I was in my usual vettiness spree wen Ck pinged me abt this gig they wer having in 10 Downing street or 10D as it is known..some tribute to Deep Purple sponsored by z3 shirts and all u had u gotta do is to have blog and u get free passes. The only thing tht got me interested was the prospect of booze and chicks cos frankly i have never listened to Deep purple.. i was like.. who the hell are they? Oh yeah.. they wer the who composed the song which went by the name Smoke On The Water as i found out later frm CK. I went through my playlist and there i found a couple of songs by Deep Purple vis Highway Star and Black Night.. neva heard it before and yeah it turned out to be good.
SO the day of 10D arrived and man It was one helluva nite. We Merry men gang consisting of Ck,Kman,Lee and jagan had an awesome time there..totlly Kickass. Plus u got the rockin music and the everflowing booze the nite promised a lot of fun and it delivered Big time.
The Band tht was performing the covers was jus unbelievable. It was better than the originals.. trust me. A superb vocalist, amazing drums and i will be failing if i don't mention the guitarists who absolutely had the crowd on their feet in no time... Timothy Madhukar, Joshua Raj, Wilfred Demoz, Shyam Rao, Jim Satya, Vijji Cheyyur and Rohan Nambiar.. I only know joshua.. he used be a tutor at unwind center and the rest wer a surprise package..And man.. they got me crooning for them in a matter of jus 1 song.
Thier covers of black night and Sometimes I Feel Like Screamin had the crowd dancing and groovin and screamin and everythin. There were a bunch of Deep Purple enthusiasts in the crowd and they seemed to dig the gig more than the rest. Perfect strangers was amazing with the crowd joining with the band and singing their hearts out and yeah as u all know Smoke On The Water rocked big time as always..! Such was the crowd support tht Luke kenny was shooed off stage (well not exactly but u get my point ) when he came to distribute some freebies.. They wanted none of it.. all the seemed to care abt was the Good ol' music. truly exciting.
A totally fun-filled night.. true meaning for the word Party and true meaning for the word 'Tribute'. Hope the Z3 dudes come up many such events like this and encourage the rising Raakstars of this city. OH and also the free passes :P .
Until next time.. Cheers !

Monday, December 22, 2008 The Wall Reconstructs Itself
this post is is abt one of Fab Four of Indian Cricket, one of the all time greats,Rahul Dravid.
If u are not a Fan then bugger off... this does not concern yu.
This man according to me is the best in the business oly next to the God,sachin.critics say that test cricket is for the purists and only those with immense mental and physical Fitness nad technical capability can survive these five gruesome days and still come out unscathed and eager for the next battle. Dravid hasn't been nicknamed "The Wall" without a reason. Dravid has been there when india needed him and he has delivered quite consistently. He has saved mmatches wen his teammates lost hopes, clutched wins from the jaws of defeat and he has been doing that for the past 10 yrs. He has been india's ever-dependable in tight suituations. He is,acc to me an all rounder with such a commitment for the game. he has played the role of a finisher,a sheet anchor,a match saver and a match winner. As if this wasn't enough,he donned the wicket-keeper gloves,at a time wen india was struggling to find a good wicket-keeper batsmen, much before the arrival of the likes of Dhoni and Yuvraj. This he did during the 2003 world cup so that india could afford to go in for an extra specialist batsman or an extra bowler. Such is his qiuet nature of the game that his exploits often go unnoticed. And such is the character of the man that this doesn't him concern him at all.AT 35,he still one among the fittest and has atleast 2 more yrs of cricket left in him if not more. He is not The Planner but he is the executioner,he may not be the commander or the colonel, but he is the ever hungry and everready-to-serve soldier whose commitment is beyond the mundane mind.
I hate those critics.all they can do is talk an hurt with their words. If a player is out of form they'll do all they can to make life miserable for him.Come on, u get the guts to criticise a guy who has played abt 500 matches and amassed 20,000-odd runs jus cos he hasn't been playing well for the past 10 or so matches?? i second that.. and at these times, these famous words echo in my mind... "Form is temporary,Class is permanent"
He has served India during tough times and during his tough times its oly basic human nature that we support this guy.
I am his tru supporter and i know for sure that he'll rise agin and am ready to wait for that moment, however long it may take.. bocoz its worth the wait.

Thursday, November 27, 2008 The Darn Rain
okay for all those ppl out there who think that rain is cool or rain is awesome or worse, to put it it the chick way, ran is cute (EEzh), my word to u all is...shove ur thot rite up ur ...! face it.. this has been one of my lousiest days in my life. I mean, I practically haven't seen chennai recieving a downpour three days in a row.The first two days, i was thinking in a social way.. like no shortage of water in summer, and much needed reprieve from the heat.. blah blah blah... But the day is wen it hit me. When i looked outta my window i thought to myself "Are u freakin kidding me?".
The rain in the last few days have had only a negative impact..
1)my exams got postponed and i have to write it again the next month as if one month of exam-writing wasn't enough.
2)I couldn't take out my bike...afraid that it'd cease up midway
3) i can't even walk to my friends place as all the roads are under ankle-deep murky water..no thanks.
now u can say that i can stay in my house watch tv or snuggle up for a cosy nap.. but am not that kinda guy.. i hate staying indoors.
Also with arcot veerasamy around, who could get a peaceful nap these days. ( for all those who don't now arcot veerasamy is the p-mavan who is responsible for these power cuts.. he is Hon. power minister!!)This guy feels that any day without a two-hour power cut is a day wasted. so jus goes abt doing his "duty"..sunshine or rain!
So it adds upto this.. no power, its raining like hell outside, stuck at home doing nothing... not exactly my idea of a holiday.
finally wen the power did resume i was happy. But that happines lasted only for abt half an hour or so.. and in that half our i listened to couple o' songs, checked my scraps ,played a game of FIFA
and then i got bored again.... couldn't help it. come on how long can we keep doing this?
am not aneesh, who spends his every living second on the internet... calls it the 'virtual life'
(again eeezh!!).. i am the kinda guy who most of his time outdoors.
Ultimately, u got no choice but to think abt a new post for ur blog..and well here it is!!
i know its a lousy post.. but the weather ain't any better either!!

Monday, October 13, 2008 A 50Km/hr trip to Ascendas
well.here goes..my first blog post.
As the title suggests, this was my first experience driving my bike upto ascendas. And wen i say my "bike" let me paint u a little picture of wat it exactly is. My bike is a black,weather-beaten,10 yr old scooty..the oldest model. It can do 0-60 in..hmmm..actually i don't how much time it can do it in cos it has never touched 60 in its life.
so let me start. It was a monday and me and my pals (abt 6 of us) were playing literature in CK's place(it has kinda become like a mandatory thing). Ck's birthday was abt 2 weeks back and his treat was still due.So while playing the topic came up and after much persuasion( persuasion as in 5 of us beating the crap outta him!) he agreed to give it the following wednesday as it was a saraswati puja and hell thats the only day our parents don't force us to study.(i know wat u must be thinking,ya like we study on all other days..free).So anyways after a lotta thought we rounded up on the food court in ascendas as our destination.
So then wednesday came, the day of the treat. i hadn't initially planned on taking the scooty on the trip...not in my wildest dreams. It was bad enough that i was taking that thing to college..but to ascendas..jeez no.
and more so we had 3 bikes and there were six of us..so,after the application of my extra-ordinary math skills, that leaves us two on a bike which was perfect..so that i couldn't bring my owners-puke with me!
so i arrived at CK's at 2 PM to my utmost displeasure that there wee actually 7 of us going foe the treat,so i had no other choice but to bring my scooty. now let me tell u wat the other 3 bikes were...2 Apache RTR 160's and one Hunk...a combined cc of 450... whereas my scooty was a mere 50cc. i was the sole rider...without a pillion...! (come on would u sit in a scooty wen affored the comfoet of an Apache??).
There u have it.... and i can tell u that watever u might be thinking at this point is correct. Apache Vs scooty... even the TVS guys would have laughed their head out at this. The trip started and those guys sped of from the word go..and i was left behind smelling the afterburn.
Occassionally one of them would wait by the side of the road or by the shade of a tree..waiting for me to arrive at my own will at 50 KM/hr in my scooty.
Atlast after abt 45 min of perspiration and disgruntled feeling..i finally made it to ascendas. My pals arrived before me and were already in their first course wen i joined them. i was actually surprised that my scooty could manage the trip without any hiccoughs. I always had the feeling that it wuldn't be able to hold up for such a long distance..but it proved me wrong and my respect for it grew a little. But never, ever again will i take out my scooty to such a distance, even if it means me stuck in my house. One experience was enough for me to come this conclusion.
